Pro Flora Oral Health contains bacteria strains clinically shown to support oral and nasal health through restoration of microflora balance. S. SALIVARIUS (BLIS K-12) is a probiotic microorganism natural to the human mouth. Research suggests that individuals less prone to dental issues produce more bacteriocin-like inhibitory substances (BLIS), natural antimicrobials that can fight pathogenic bacteria. The strain of S. salivarius in Pro Flora Oral Health produces two forms of BLIS (Salivaricin A and Salivaricin B) that have been clinically demonstrated to kill bacteria associated with chronic bad breath and bacterial infections of the oral cavity and upper airways. In addition, research conducted by the Center of Microbial Diseases and Immunity Research in Vancouver, B.C., found that S. salivarius may inhibit inflammatory pathways within the human bronchial epithelial cells as well as switch on genes in epithelial tissue that promote rebuilding and repair. These modulating effects on immune function suggest that S. salivarius may not only be protective against upper respiratory and dental issues, but may also stimulate an immune response that promotes quicker recovery.†
L. REUTERI has been shown in recent studies to inhibit the growth of Streptococcus bacteria. In addition, subjects in clinical oral health trials supplemented with L. reuteri showed a 59% reduction in gingivitis levels and a 42% reduction in plaque
levels after four weeks of treatment.†
L. PARACASEI specifically targets Streptococcus mutans, a pathogen closely linked to dental caries. L. paracasei has also been shown to have immune-supporting activity when incorporated into intestinal targeted probiotic formulas.†
