  Scientific Advisory Board

BioGenesis is proud to announce our Scientific Advisory Board for 2014.  BioGenesis has partnered with successful doctors of integrity who have a passion to heal, teach and continue to expand their knowledge in the arena of Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM). BioGenesis’s Scientific Advisory Board is comprised of doctors that have extensive clinical experience and use BioGenesis products in their practices. The primary goal of the Scientific Advisory Board is to accumulate clinically relevant data with individual case studies of BioGenesis products in clinical practice.

As part of our commitment to provide clinically effective products to our healthcare providers, we would like to introduce our Scientific Advisory Board for 2014:

Emily Gonzalez, ND
BioGenesis Technical Advisor (2012), CMO (2013 - )


Dr. Emily Gonzalez is the Chief Medical Officer for BioGenesis Nutraceuticals, Inc. She is a graduate of Stanford University (BA Human Biology 1994) and Bastyr University (ND 2007). Prior to becoming a doctor, she worked in research at the Stanford Center for Research in Disease Prevention in California, where she worked on improving public health through community projects in tobacco cessation and violence prevention. After becoming a doctor, she had an active clinical practice and worked as lead practitioner at an integrative pharmacy, helping to bring natural medicine to a wider community.

David B. Wood, BSc, ND

Dr. Wood is the president and cofounder (1984-present) of Trinity Family Health Clinic, P.S. in Lynnwood, WA.
Dr. Wood graduated from the University of Washington (BSc microbiology 1977) and Bastyr University (ND 1983).
In addition to his corporate responsibilities, from 1994 until 2006, Dr. Wood hosted the weekly call-in radio
program "Health, Hope, and Healing" on AM 820 KGNW. Dr. Wood has also served on the WANP board as a
trustee (1989-1992) and been a health columnist for a local journal newspaper. In 2005, Dr. Wood was chosen to cohost the national television program "Doctor to Doctor," which aired weekly on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN). He appeared on "Doctor to Doctor" from 2005 to 2007.

Alyssa C. DiRienzo, ND

Dr. DiRienzo is a graduate of the National College of Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM) in Portland, Oregon, where
she completed a residency in general family medicine. Following graduation, Dr. DiRienzo pursued a year of post-doctoral study in women's health through the Institute of Women's Health and Integrative Medicine. Currently Dr. DiRienzo has a private practice in North Bend, Washington. In addition, she serves as adjunct clinical faculty for Bastyr University in Seattle. Dr. DiRienzo has been on-staff at BioGenesis Nutraceuticals, Inc. since 2003. As a technical advisor at BioGenesis, Dr. DiRienzo assists practitioners by providing technical support and information.

Joseph Veltmann, PhD
PhD in Nutritional Sciences
Founder of the Institute for Individualized Medicine


Dr. Joseph Veltmann has been in the field of nutritional medicine for more than 30 years. He is the founder of the Institute for Individualized Medicine, which has been providing personalized medical information and lifestyle programs to individuals based on their genetic profiles since 2000. He has authored more than 40 scientific journal papers in Nutritional Bio-Chemistry, publishes in the lay press, and is the published extensively in the field of Nutritional Bio-Chemistry and is the recipient of many honors such as Diplomate, College of Clinical Nutrition, Fellow, American Association of Integrative Medicine.

Dr. Veltmann began his career at Texas A&M in the Nutritional Sciences Department as an Assistant Professor.  He received his PhD. in Nutritional Sciences at University of Georgia (1984), his M.S. in Nutrition at University of Hawaii (1975) and his B.A. in Zoology-Physiology, Miami University (1970).

Joseph Wessels, ND
Naturopathic Physician, Active Practice


Dr. Wessels graduated from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1976 and has been in private practice in Bellingham, Washington, since then. He has served on the boards of the Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians and the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education. Currently he is a member of the house of delegates to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and adjunct faculty at Bastyr University.
